My new favorite subject — lollipops!

When I began this blog, my personal goal was to keep it updated with new paintings strictly on a daily basis for at least one year. Well, I’m guilty of not being able to keep that goal, most especially during the past two and a half weeks.

On a positive note though, I sold some of the small paintings and spent those two and a half weeks packing and mailing them as well as finishing a commission. To those who have bought my paintings or commissioned me, thank you so much for your support!

Since today is Independence Day in America, I wish to greet all Americans a Happy Fourth of July!

Today is also a very special day for me because, like the title says, this is also my blog’s first anniversary! I should have posted the 365th daily painting around this time, but since I wasn’t able to keep my schedule, it will come a little (or a lot!) later than I expected. We’ll see though. I may have some more to say come the day I post that 365th painting, but for now, I just want to say THANK YOU! once again to all of you who visit my blog, those who enjoy my paintings, those who take time to send me their comments — you are all very special to me! Something not related to the daily paintings. Earlier this month, my brother David and I each entered 3 of our artwork to the A Singular Creation Portraits 2 Contest. I am thrilled that the oil portrait I did for Different Strokes from Different Folks was chosen as one of the 12 finalists. There were about 271 entries and there were many great paintings and drawings, so I am really honored that the judges chose my painting and one of David’s pencil portraits (both shown below).

I had a very difficult time trying to get this image to match the original colors. Some colors are still slightly inaccurate, but I hope you like the painting anyway. I had a lot of fun trying to make the orange look translucent.

I can’t believe it’s the 300th painting already, and there are only 65 more before I complete one year of daily paintings!

My goal is to finish one year and after which, if God is willing, I’d like to start on a new project — something which I have been planning on since late last year. Hope you will stay tuned for that.
