I have seen many paintings of indoor scenes like living rooms and restaurants but this is, I think, the very first time I’ve ever tried to paint one. I am quite pleased with the result and I must say that it was a very interesting experience and a welcome change.

On another note, I finally gave up with all the spam comments I receive every single day so I spent some time yesterday to look for a solution. I installed a plugin which adds a word verification feature just like the one in Blogger. As much as I hate to add this inconvenience, it just seemed that I was getting more and more spam everyday. Anyway, I would still love to hear from you, so I hope you will not mind this. If you encounter any problems when you leave a comment, please let me know. Thank you!

I have always been fascinated with clouds, especially when it’s sunset and they take on a lot of different colors. These pink and violet clouds remind me so much of cotton candy.

I’m still one daily painting behind on this blog as I wasn’t able to post last Christmas day. I’ll make up for that today by posting two. This first one is a landscape — it’s a painting of the road just outside my grandfather’s home in the country.

Life’s been busy the past few weeks so I am very sorry for the somewhat irregular postings. There are days when I am able to spend some time on the computer and post, but there are days when there just isn’t enough time. I am still painting and completing one everyday though, and I haven’t missed one day yet (thankfully!). Anyway, here is one more landscape painting. This one is a bit bigger than the others. I like how small the figure is because I think it gives the painting a “panoramic” feel.

Here’s the first of two landscape paintings that I will be posting today.

One of the things that I like best in a landscape painting is when it invites one to jump right into it. And one of the things that makes a landscape painting “inviting” for me is when the foreground has some elements that look close enough to touch, or maybe a rocky path that seems close enough to walk on. I attempted to capture that effect here so I painted quite a lot of the individual blades of grass.

This is quite a timely post. I’ve been staring at the sky for a few minutes each night for the past two or three nights waiting to see some shooting stars from the latest meteor shower. I’ve read that they are most visible close to dawn, but I don’t stay up very late at night and I don’t wake up that early either. Anyhow, I’ve been lucky enough to see one — there’s just something awesome about shooting stars in the sky.

The first landscape. This one was painted from a photo that I took on my first visit to a beach. Standing in front of an ocean along a quiet beach does make one feel very small indeed!

This is just the second time I’ve used a photograph to paint from in the daily painting series. I used to work exclusively from photographs, but after 60 or so daily paintings, I have grown fond of painting from life as I am able to see and observe details more.

I’ve always been fascinated with the sky and clouds. For a long time, I’ve wanted to do a painting featuring cloud formations. I never got around to it because I couldn’t think of anything to paint below the sky. The small format of daily paintings seemed suitable though so I was finally able to convince myself to paint one even without anything else beneath.

I originally wanted to paint just clouds, but a couple of airplanes flew by and I decided to include one. I didn’t notice it before but I think I broke a rule by placing it in the center of the composition.
