It’s been a while since I last posted a painting. I hope you will bear with me as I try to get my posting habits back in order again.

As some of you know, my Dad suffered a stroke in February of last year. It crippled him badly and my priorities shifted as I take on the new role of caregiver along with my mother and brother. These past 2-3 months especially, we’ve been going around, well, like chickens with their heads cut off! Luckily, I have been able to squeeze in some productive painting time and I have several new works which I hope to show you in the coming weeks, God willing. I hope you’ll stay tuned for those!

Catching up on a few things that happened during the last three weeks…

A week or so ago, Judy Felker featured some of my work on her blog Creative Wonder. Stop by for a visit and check out the other artists she’s featured. I’ve “discovered” a number of new favorites myself.

Also about a week ago, Michel Oosterhout invited me to submit my Apple Half painting below to his An Apple a Day project. Check it out!

And about two weeks or so ago, I received in the mail this beautiful pencil drawing from one of the sweetest and kindest persons I know. Sherry is a fabulous artist and I hope you will take time to visit her blog. Lately, she has also begun posting photos of her drawings in progress so you can see how she creates her realistic, and often very intricate, drawings.

I can’t decide if this is a silly title for this painting, but I wanted to use something other than “Plum and Grapes”. My favorite part is the bluish bloom on the fruits, hence the title.

This painting is on gessoed 1/8″ hardboard. It’s my first time to try this support, but I will be using it for most of the future daily paintings.

By the way, here is the bird painting that I was talking about a few days ago. It is an illustrative type of painting which I like very much. I hope you do too.

Mel requested this painting of her favorite subjects that I have done before. I had to wait for the black plums to become available again, but it was worth the wait because I really enjoyed painting this. It’s currently my most favorite of all the “dailies”.

Making the background smooth was a challenge, but I really love how this turned out. I like how the plum is so low in the painting.

Here’s one more plum painting. I couldn’t decide if I should still paint the stripes on the cloth so I just let the brushstrokes show in the background for interest.

Lately, I have been taking more time to observe my subjects. I also carefully check each color mixture for accuracy before really painting it on. I think the extra time taken to observe and analyze is definitely worth it as it has somehow shortened the painting time.
