I’m posting two oil paintings today, both featuring lychee leaves. In the painting above, I tried a new background design. I used a stiff bristle brush and fairly thick white paint in order to achieve the “sketchy” edges. I am happy with the result, but I’m thinking that this may be more interesting if the board had some burnt sienna tint instead of just the white gesso.

This was done almost two months ago. It is the smallest painting I have posted so far. It’s not part of the daily painting series although it was done in one sitting as well. I initially wanted to do a study of water drops, but I couldn’t decide where to put them until I saw this leaf.
