Hi, Adele! Thanks for your kind words. The background color was a mixture of leftover paint from the previous day's painting so I can't remember exactly what colors went in there. My palette consists of white, ultramarine blue, cad red, alizarin crimson, cad yellow lemon and yellow ochre so it was most probably a mix of all those. Try something with ultramarine and crimson and then dull that down with some yellow ochre and lots of white.

Don't worry if you can't get it exactly, even I have a difficult time. Just think of it as a lavender-tinted light gray color. Hope that helps. Happy painting!

Faith, I must congratulate you on your magnificent (little) paintings. I do not know how you manage to paint so beautifully on such a tiny canvas.
May I ask what colour you are using as a background on this chocolate cookie painting? I am learning from you, but does not seem to get the same colour.
Thanks so much. Adele (South Africa.)
