This pear was a lot harder to paint than I thought. Maybe I should think of a name for this series of fruits where I place them against a cream backdrop like I did here. I have already done a few and I plan to do more in the future — perhaps one for each variety of fruit. The ones I have painted before are:

I’ve always been fascinated with the sky and clouds. For a long time, I’ve wanted to do a painting featuring cloud formations. I never got around to it because I couldn’t think of anything to paint below the sky. The small format of daily paintings seemed suitable though so I was finally able to convince myself to paint one even without anything else beneath.

I originally wanted to paint just clouds, but a couple of airplanes flew by and I decided to include one. I didn’t notice it before but I think I broke a rule by placing it in the center of the composition.

We recently saw these small glass bottles in a market. They were so cute and inexpensive we just had to get a couple! At the time, I didn’t have a specific composition where I’d use them, but my Mom thought they would be perfect for holding flowers. So here is one of those bottles holding the same purple flower from yesterday’s painting and a green one.

I used some impasto for the petals, especially for the green flower. I think this turned out better than yesterday’s painting.
