NOTE: Starting 01 March, 2009, we shall exclusively use Arches® paper for all commissioned charcoal and graphite pencil drawings. Arches® paper is acid-free and 100% cotton with excellent color rendition. Stable and resistant against discoloration and tearing over time.
  • Above fees are for single-subject, graphite pencil or charcoal portraits with simple backgrounds.
  • An additional 75% will be added for each and every additional subject.
  • Fees may vary depending on the complexity of the drawing.
  • Additional fees apply if complex backgrounds are desired (e.g. landscapes or interiors).
  • Sizes listed above indicate actual drawing areas.
  • Above listed are the basic sizes. If you wish to have a specific size which does not appear on the list, please feel free to e-mail us for a quote.
  • We also draw other subjects. If you wish to commission drawings other than that of people or pets, please e-mail us for a quote.
  • A non-refundable deposit equivalent to 50% of the total cost shall be remitted in advance immediately after acceptance of commission.
  • Fees are for unmatted and unframed portraits.
  • Fees do not include the costs of shipping and handling.

1. Procedure

Send us an e-mail with your inquiries and photographs together with specifications of your preferences such as graphite pencil or charcoal and desired backgrounds.

After the details and prices have been discussed and agreed upon, we will immediately present you with a rough sketch to show how the portrait's composition will look like. Upon your approval, at least a 50% deposit shall be remitted before work on the portrait commences.

To ensure that the portrait is up to your expectations, at least 2 progress updates will be presented by e-mail or on a private page in www.ArtisticRealism.com. Upon completion, the work will likewise be presented for your final approval prior to shipment.

If you wish to receive your portrait at a specific time, please place your order well in advance. Completion of work depends on the size of the portrait, complexity, and the artist's workload at the time.

2. Choosing Your Photographs

Practically almost any picture can be worked from. However, submission of a clear and detailed photograph will produce better results. We prefer working from an actual photograph. If that will be an inconvenience on your part, e-mail us your photographs at a minimum resolution of 300dpi (dots per inch).

If commissioning for a multi-subject portrait, we are also able to work from separate photographs of the subjects and compose them into one portrait.

You may send us your photographs by e-mail or the image file box of our e-mail form.

3. Modes of Payment and Shipment

Payments may be sent by registered airmail in the form of Personal Checks, Bank Drafts, or Money Orders. Please note that portraits will only be shipped after cleared funds are confirmed.

Your portrait will be shipped flat (not in tubes) by airmail or courier, depending on your choice. Shipping and handling charges will be quoted accordingly.
